It is beleived that placing Buddha statues around your home can bring peace, positive energy and good health. Each statue features common physical attributes, poses, and postures that define its purpose and meaning. Each pose, posture, expression and hand gesture is significant to the life of Buddha. This representation of Buddha is hands folded in the lap which signifies meditation. The Buddha, or birth name Siddhartha Gautama was born around 2500 years ago into the royal family of a small kingdom on the Indian-Nepalese border. Buddhism started with the Buddha. The word ‘Buddha’ is a title, which means ‘one who is awake’ in the sense of having ‘woken up to reality’. He did not claim to be a god or prophet. He was a human being who became Enlightened, understanding life in the deepest way possible.
